EDITOR’S NOTE

On the cover of this issue, readers will notice the logos of HEC-Montréal and AIMAC – the first represents the institution that is home to the International Journal of Arts Management and the  second an association with which it is affiliated. AIMAC, or the International Association of Arts and Culture Management, is made up of researchers from all over the world who are exploring issues related to cultural management. They meet once every two years to present the results of their most recent research projects. A highlight in the professional lives of the participants, the AIMAC Conference represents an opportunity to discuss ideas in person and to find out about the latest developments in cultural management.

As noted in past issues, our journal is intended to serve as forum where academics can pass on knowledge to those involved in cultural management and where these arts managers can share their experiences. The link with a research association is invaluable. Furthermore, over the past two years the best papers presented at the AIMAC Conference have appeared in these pages.

The next AIMAC Conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia, in July 2001. The advertisement in this issue contains additional information about this event. Although the Conference is primarily aimed at university researchers, arts managers will find some of the topics on the agenda quite stimulating.

On the eve of the journal’s third anniversary, I would like to point out that we now have subscribers in 43 countries and, perhaps more importantly, that the list of contributors from all over the world continues to grow.

At the back of the current issue, readers will find the names of those who agreed to anonymously vet manuscripts for the volume that we are now bringing to a close. We extend our heartfelt thanks to these people, for their incisive comments help us to maintain the quality of our journal.
