FROM THE CO-EDITORS-IN-CHIEF

Welcome to the Fall 2022 issue of the International Journal of Arts Management. The journal has undergone a number of changes over the past year, and we are excited to share with you our news and updates.

The International Journal of Arts Management will now be published in partnership between the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in Arts Management at HEC Montréal and the Arts & Culture Knowledge Center at SDA Bocconi. We look forward to a new era of collaboration.

Our Editorial Team has also changed, with new Co-Editors-in-Chief Alex Turrini, Associate Professor of Public and Nonprofit Management at Bocconi University, and Jennifer Wiggins, Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Kent State University. André Courchesne will continue in the role of Managing Editor. We would like to acknowledge and thank André for his years of service as Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

We are excited to introduce two new sections of the International Journal of Arts Management designed to incorporate practitioner voices and support arts management educators. The IJAM Case Studies section aims to collect case studies with teaching notes that can provide a useful tool for teaching arts management at the undergraduate or graduate level. The IJAM Practitioner Perspectives section seeks to incorporate the perspective of top arts management practitioners discussing “hot topics” or issues that are relevant to the field.

IJAM will also be hosting a Paper Development Workshop Series. Papers with high potential for publication will be selected through a submission process, and the authors will be invited to attend the workshop and work with the editors to develop their papers into publishable articles. Look for an invitation to submit to the first workshop coming in 2023.

We are also instituting IJAM PhD Reviewer Mentorship Program. PhD students who are new to reviewing can request to be the third reviewer on a manuscript and receive feedback on their review from the editorial team. Sign up for the mentorship program here:

IJAM would like to announce two new awards at the journal. The Editors’ Choice Award honors outstanding articles and their authors in each issue of IJAM. The first winning article can be found in this issue. The Best Reviewer Award honors outstanding referees and editorial board members who continually provide thoughtful, timely, and developmental reviews. Congratulations to the first winner of this award, Carsten Baumgarth of the Berlin School of Economics and Law.

Finally, look for our new online manuscript submission portal through Open Journal Systems coming in 2023!

It is an exciting time at the International Journal of Arts Management. We look forward to the coming year as we continue to bring you the latest research in arts and cultural management.
